About

My name is Melanie.

I’m a writer, editor, researcher and social marketer (in other words I spend a lot of time on the internet). I started blogging 10-years ago in the good old Diaryland days but never thought it would lead to future jobs. It is very nice that it did. Of course, having gone to school to study English Literature and then Journalism also plays a big part in that.

I live with my husband, The Mister (who doesn’t like to be talked about too much) and our 21-month old daughter Moira in a small apartment in a booming city in Canada.

I’m in love with our neighbourhood.

I read a lot of books.

I turned into the typical “Mommy Blogger” for a while since my days were filled with diapers and breastfeeding and steep learning curves – but now I’m trying to get back out in the world since my self-imposed maternity leave is over.

I drink too much tea. It is my only vice and I’m not apologizing.

I’m in love with the library.

I say I don’t collect anything but have an obscene amount of fabric, vintage patterns and New Canadian Library paperbacks.

I have no time nor room to sew right now.

I joke that we practice not-so-voluntary simplicity but I do try to think about where everything I use comes from – and how to use less.
